EXPERIENCE ARTISTIQUE

Je fais de la danse variée mais spécialisé en danse contemporaine et la danse de création. Jusque-là, j’ai acquis huit ans d’expérience professionnelle dans le monde de la danse. Je travaille avec la commission des arts et de la culture tous les ans dans le cadre de l’indépendance, la journée de Rodrigues, le festival créole, journée de la danse, journée mondiale du théâtre, aussi dans diverses activités organisées par la commission. Du haut de mes 20 années d’expérience, je perçois la danse comme étant un medium d’éducation. A travers cet art, j’apprends non seulement la discipline du corps mais aussi de l’esprit, cela dans un environnement sain qui prône l’estime de soi, les valeurs sociaux, l’effort personnel et les bonnes habitudes. Pour la maitrise des différentes techniques, je prends des cours et participes à des ateliers ainsi que des échanges artistiques et culturels.

Un festival de danse contemporaine, au programme des ateliers de formation par nos invités avec des danseurs de Rodrigues, soirée de gala avec la prestation de Rodrigues et de nos invités pour des danses de créations, improvisation et partage dans la nature au monument du Sega tambour avec un slameur et en musique, spectacle de clôture avec tout les élèves de Grace Dance School avec la participation des frères Joseph, Stephen Bongarçon, Jean Renat Anamah, et Jason Louis de l’ile Maurice, aussi Aurélie Fontaine de l’équipe lalanbik de l’ile de la Réunion.

‘Les Flammes de notre Passion’ 2016

+ Un spectacle que j’ai écrit et réaliser avec une cinquantaine d’artistes pour célébrer le dixième anniversaire de Grace Dance School. Spectacles qui mettaient en valeur tous les styles de danse, des mise scènes, des chants, le slam et de la musique qui reflète notre passion. Un moment de partage entre les artistes.

Followed traditional dance course at the Youth Centre of Citron Donis from 2010 to 2011.

Joined the Gold Dance Crew and learned modern dance, from 2011 to2013, at the Youth Counselling Centre of Malabar directed by Julio Legentil.

In 2013, won the Hit the Floor competition with Gold Dance Crew.

Joined the Grace Dance School in 2015 till now, directed by Dianola Prudence Agathe. This dance school is specialized in Contemporary dance. Carole is responsible of the finance and is the secretary of the school. She also gives basic courses to the members of the school and is responsible for the good running of the activities.

Dance Instructor, from 2021 till now with Skool of Art, Rodrigues. Performances and Workshops. Carole participated in many workshops and performed in many activities. Some of them are:

In 2019, performed in the Rodrigues Day cultural show. This show was

directed by Les Freres Joseph. They are professional contemporary dancers.

In 2020, performed with Skool of Art leaders at an Official passing over

ceremony for the Rotary Club of Rodrigues, at Les Cocotiers, Anse Aux

Anglais.

Participated in the Rodrigues day show in 2022 directed by Jason Louis, who is a professional choreographer in Mauritius.

Formed part of the organizational team, Grace Dance School, which organized the first edition of Festival LERITAZ, from 13 to 17 Decemeber 2022. A festival organized to promote contemporary dance in Rodrigues where choreographers from Mauritius and the Communication Manager from Lalanbik, Reunion Island where present.

Performed as dancer in the Festival LERITAZ and attended workshop with choreographers namely Stephen Bongarson, Jason Louis, Les Freres Joseph, Jean Renat Anamah and Kurty Genevieve.

Participated in the 1oth edition of the Biennale de Danse Festival of Seychelles from the 21st August to 2nd September 2023.

Performed in the cultural show of Rodrigues Day on the 12th October 2023.

Participated at the International Festival SAGAM in Mauritius from 13th to 17th November 2023.

Born in 1962 in Bad Homburg, Germany, Anke Doberauer was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Technical University of Braunschweig from which she received a Master of Fine Arts and Master of German Literature and Linguistics degree (Staatsexamen) in 1989 and a Meisterschüler degree in 1991.

From 1991 to 1992 she participated in the postgraduate program of the Art Academy of Marseilles, France, where she also worked as an instructor for painting from 1992 to 1994. In 1993 Anke Doberauer was awarded the renowned Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Fellowship. From 1994 to 1995 she was awarded a Fellowship by the Cultural Foundation of the State of Hesse, Germany, which allowed her to establish a Studio in the "Cité Internationale des Arts" in Paris, France. In 1997 she participated in the "Triangle"-Workshop New York.  From 1998 to 1999 she was member of the Focus Group "Bild und Bildlichkeit" with the art historians Martin Warnke, Horst Bredekamp, Franz J. Verspohl and David Craven at the Collegium Budapest Institute for Advanced Studies, Budapest, Hungary. In 2003 Anke Doberauer was made Professor for Painting and Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts, in Munich, Germany, where she continues to teach. From 2011 to 2012 she worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for six months. In 2014 she was awarded a Goethe Institute grant for the Camargo Foundation, Cassis, France, for her project « Gated communities » in collaboration with the department of Geography of Aix-Marseille University.

Anke Doberauer lives and works in Marseille and Munich. She is bilingual German and French, speaks and writes fluently English, Italian and Spanish and has good knowledge in Hungarian.

Born in Selfoss 1965.

Graduated from Ljósmyndaskólinn in Reykjavik in 2014 .

Christine uses the photograph as an art form to express her inclinations about, life, beauty, stillness, moment in time and saga. She pays attention to everything that surrounds us as her mind drifts to those who are no longer with us, and the light they left behind.

She loves to play with movement and light or the stillness and it gives her photographs a certain mystique aura.

One can sense the threads of her life’s story in her photographs which blend together with the unique light, beauty, peace and healing which she finds in Icelandic nature.

Visual artist living in Marseille, France. He has chosen to work in a collaborative artistic process with people from different spheres, invited as co-authors. While using everyday life elements as a medium, the results are sculptures and installations. These elements are assembled together in order to produce a poetical state, often re-employing objects and materials considered of little value. The work is made to connect things seen as heterogeneous, disparate, antinomical .. as a way to express the value of difference.

Jacques Desiré Wong So was born and raised on Rodrigues island. His nickname and artist name is Meng. His artworks is a conversation that explores the relationship between human feelings and nature, the identity of islander. Through abstractions he stimulantes a visual vocabulary developped from direct observation. Thus, his process is about dematerializing the figurative through abstractions to develop a personal language and a personal interpretation of the notion of beauty.

As abstract artist enthusiast, Meng is a keen observer of nature and the society. His work reflects his personality type INFJ – A, an advocate.

With a Maîtrise d'Arts Appliqués, obtained at the Université Michel de Montaigne, Bordeaux III, France, in 2004, he return to Rodrigues as an Educator.

His work on identity proceed with group exhibitions from 2000 until now, in Mauritius, France and China.

His participation in 57th The International Art Exhibition La Biennale Di Venezia, Italia, was a major breakthough in his artistic career as this event outlined his international level as an artist.

I started as drama performer in 2018 and in 2021, I started my career a stand-up comedian, where I had the opportunity to join the Skool of Art Rodrigues (a school where we teach different type of performing arts on a voluntary basis). Actually, I'm a drama animator at the skool of art.

Since i started as a drama performer, I had the opportunity to perform in different play such as “ti badinaz”, ‘solda”, “le bouquet”, “rasinn” and many more.

In 2019, with a troupe, we had the opportunity to perform on the stages of Mauritius which part of it was a joint initiative between the Caudan arts center and the skool of art to hold the “festival Rasinn” in their theater. Also, we performed Point canon which was a collaboration with the ministry for arts and culture.

In 2021-2022, during my course to become a holistic educator, I acquired more experiences where I am now teaching drama and other types of performing arts at school.

In 2023, I participated in the drama festival organized by the commission for arts and culture where I had been awarded the special jury award.

In 2023, I have organized my first show as stand-up comedian which was named “kas dan ta” where many other artists have been invited to perform with me during the show.

Special Jury Award

Luiciano Fils Roussety, a 27-year-old photographer from Rodrigues Island, Mauritius, has established himself as a prominent figure in the field of photography. His journey began during his college years studying Art and Design, where his photographic project earned recognition as one of the top three in both Mauritius and Rodrigues, sparking his passion for professional photography.

Equipped with his first DSLR, a Canon 700D, Luiciano embarked on a career focused on landscapes, portraits, and macro photography. He further honed his skills through formal education, including advanced photography courses and mentorship under industry experts such as Mr. Raj Muslayah and Mr. Dubois P Steeve.

Luiciano's artistic endeavors led to collaborations with local and national entities, including exhibitions, publications, and projects with renowned photographers like Mr. Paul Choy. His work has been featured in prestigious magazines and recognized with awards such as the Best Photographer title at the Tan Grofi Artist Award.

In 2021, he had the chance to be interviewed and published by several national and international magazines such as Scope Magazine, Essentielle, the Daily Mail and others.

Amidst the global pandemic, Luiciano utilized online resources to enhance his storytelling abilities and was certified as a National Geographic instructor which were hosted by the National Geographic Channel located in New York His dedication to the craft has been underscored by prizes in photography competitions and participation in international exhibitions.

In 2022 he participated in a photography competition organized by the United Nations of Mauritius on the different sustainable goals (STD’s) in which he won the second prize, he was also awarded the second prize for a photography competition organized by the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA).

In 2023 he also participated in an international exhibition which is called Mauritius International Art Fair with other photographs from India, China and Egypt and in 2024 he participated in another virtual international exhibition in Mauritius in collaboration with Art inspire Mauritius.

Throughout the year 2020 till now, he also had the chance to share his passion by helping young childrens and adults understand the basics of photography by doing courses in the weekend which was organized by the Skool Of Arts and the Rodrigues College.

Beyond accolades, Luiciano views photography as a means of exploration and connection, enriching his understanding of the world and fostering personal growth.

Art Exhibition and Residency Rodrigues The Transit of Venus across the Sun

LEOPOLD Marie Anne Bianca is a wife and mother of 35 years old, of Mauritian Nationality, born and lives in Rodrigues Island. Date of birth 09 July 1987. Bianca acts as a teacher in a secondary school. Holding a degree in textile and fashion design, she is also a passionate of the world of art- painting, sports and most specially dancing.

Bianca is also a member and a dancer of Kadans Kreol, a dance group in Rodrigues Island regrouping people of different ages: adults, adolescents and children. Bianca also acts as a leader and choreographer in the group. Kadans Kreol counteS 34 members from which- a junior team of 8 children, a modern team of 14 adolescents and adults and a traditional team with 6 dancers and 6 musicians

During her life Bianca joined different groups, met different dancers and choreographers with whom she learned different types of dance.

In the year 2006 Bianca followed a course/training on ‘La Dance Moringue’ conducted by the Comite Reunionnais de Moringue from Reunion Island

Dance- performances, courses in Mauritius (2009 -2012)

Bianca worked with SR dance group a well known dance company with former Stephen Bongarson- one among the best choreographers in Mauritius. From this experience she gained a more professional approach to the world of dance and learned new dance style namely contemporary dance and latin dance. She also joined a dance group named Dance Move directed by Jason Louis a great Mauritian Dancer and choreographer. Futhermore, Bianca danced with kreolina (a dance group at the University of Mauritius formed by Rodriguans students) which has been renamed as kadans kreol.

Bianca also danced with Wendy Boojouary a great dancer and choreographer who was also studying at the same university. Wendy Boujouary approached Bianca after a show she made with Kreolina to propose her to join another university dance group led by her.

In 2010 Bianca joined Dream Art Academy an artistic group composed of youngsters evolving in different artistic field namely, Theatre, dance, Musique (vocal and instrumental), painting, pyrogravure, sculpture and others. Bianca acted as dancer in the group together with Jason Louis, Wendy Boojouary and other dancers. Their first show was at the theatre Serge Constantin during a theatre competition May 2010.

Back to Rodrigues in 2012 Bianca rejoined Grace Dance group once again and shared all experiences she had in Mauritius. She participated in different festivities organized by the local comission.

Bianca also participated in the show Bozart mounted by Jovany Bouton a Mauritian Choreographer.

In the year 2012 or 2013 Bianca coached a dance group in her natal village for the dance competition hit the floor. They won the 3rd place.

In 2015 she was contacted by some kreolina dancers who were back from the university and wanted to reform the kreolina group. The group was then renamed as Kadans kreol as kreolina was still under performance in Mauritius by other Rodriguan students who joined the University of Mauritius.

In 2016 after a dance sport course and an exam with Craig bullock a South African world champion coach and dance pioneer Bianca received a certificate as judge for sport dance.

Bianca also coached some students for the intercollege des art in the dance field together with Miss Anne Melissa Azie. The traditional dance group won the 2nd place. They often have the responsibility to train students to participate in the different dance activities organized by the school- for example: for Indepence day, Rodrigues day, zumba during sports day.

In 2018 Bianca was selected by a board of judge from Reunion Island from Maloya donn kor group for a women festival – Galigalang, which was done in Reunion Island.

In 2019, Bianca Went to Reunion Island with kadans kreol traditional band for tournee Rodriguaise.

Bianca is also a leader, animator and choreographer in skool of art. In 2017 she was coaching the Modern Dance workshop during the absence of the choreographer. Since 2019 she is the coach of the traditional Dance workshop.

Piotr Zamojski's main subjects are time, space and language. The materials he uses are pre-existing situations such as interiors, public spaces, landscapes and also objects of daily use. He investigates the relation between appearance, image, description and reality itself. His works have an evocative and responsive character; they can be seen as pretexts, as an invitation to pay more attention to a particular place in order to get closer to the genius loci. In doing so, he examines local formal languages against a broader historical, geographical and socio-cultural background. His choice of media ranges from painting, photography, film and sound to sculptural techniques.

Mauritian artist and art educator in the field of visual arts and performing arts, Valérie is a symbol of unity through diversity. She works for the promotion of interculturality throughout her artworks, master classes and workshops. Co-founder of Shastriya Art Studio with three branches in the island, in the south, center and east of Mauritius. Valérie is an inspiring artist working relentlessly for the promotion of the arts.

Originating from the village of Pamplemousses in the north of Mauritius, in a family of mixed cultural origins, Valérie considers herself as a true Mauritian and citizen of the world, unbound from colours, religious beliefs and cultures. She embraces the beauty of her island in all its splendeur.

She has a Master degree in visual arts with specialisation in art theory, a Degree in fine arts with specialisation in sculpture, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in visual arts and a Diploma in performing arts (Kuchipudi). She participates regularly in art events and hosts activities to cater for the promotion of the arts.

Valérie participates in local, international art exhibitions and art competitions since the age of 11. As a student, she has won prizes at various occasions for art contests and elocution competitions. She regularly participates in art activities where the interaction with the public is encouraged. She is also regularly invited on radio and tv shows to talk and share about her art practices. She organizes events to encourage not only art making but art through sustainable ways. In 2022, She hosted an upcycling art competition at national level to encourage people to create art by using upcycled objects and help in the reduction of waste while raising awareness about the negative effects of pollution for the environment.

During lockdown 2020, she created drawing/painting/creative video tutorials to help children and parents to cope and/or bypass the stress of confinement. In 2021, during the second lockdown in Mauritius, she hosted an online art exhibition to celebrate world art day, where 70 children of nine different countries have participated. In the same year, during the second lockdown, Valérie was invited to be part #united by dance, an international dance platform where she did a masterclass online where hundreds of people could escape from the stress of the covid pandemic through dance. In 2020, she was hired by Afrasia bank to paint live portraits of golfers and to design the invitation of the opening of the golf season.
